Remember a time when something both excited and frightened you. There was the anticipation and yearning of the possibility, and perhaps a smidgen of worry or concern that things might not turn out quite the way you expected.
It's very much how I felt about skydiving in the fall of 2003. I was on tenterhooks all the way up on the airplane ride. The tension was excruciating once we crouched at the edge of the plane to dive off. I had prepared for the jump with a training, and I also had an experienced skydiver hooked up to me. I had done everything to ensure my safety for this extraordinary adventure.
Here's the thing, no matter how much I prepped or listened to the tales of my friends who'd gone skydiving before, nothing quite compared to the experience of doing it myself. Diving off that plane and pulling the rip cord turned out to be one of the most amazing experiences of my life, a combination of euphoria, bliss and exquisite peace.
So too on this adventure you must be willing to leave the lay of the land, those things familiar and precious to you, and dive off into the unknown pulling the rip cord. You'll have an experienced deep diver with you on the adventure so you're in great hands.
Let yourself become living poetry. Rumi
