I like to think I'm open-minded, fluid, and free (and more conscious than your average bear lol).
Imagine my surprise when I encounter a rigidity within myself worthy of high peaks and purple mountain majesty.
When I step back and observe, I notice there are millions of these moments a day. Often I take each moment of my filtered reality as the truth. The only truth.
The problem with this is you miss the alternate views. You give up the possibility to shift the current moment into more of what is possible.
More often it's the limited perspective that has a stranglehold. How tightly you hold onto your fixed point of view, that holds you in its gristled grip.
When you can release the “I am right!” you realize what else IS at play. Clinging to your passionate perspective as the only truth is a minefield. No matter where you step it's sure to blow up (at some point).
Where can you dance more purposefully?
How to Dance With Possibility
Sometimes it's very very hard to pull your feet from the quicksand of long-held positions. A two-pronged approach can be the just the thing to create some freedom and movement.
Here's what I find helpful when I am spinning in the I am Right! vortex:
Drop from your head to your belly. Sink into the sensations that are occurring in your body. Notice your breath. Notice the space within as it grows and expands. Breathe fully and deeply, inhaling from the fountain of Life. Let the essence of it fill every cell and space in your being (and beyond). Relax into the softness and buoyance of your being. Rest your worries, fears, and challenges in the infinite nooks of spaciousness. Release (like a pressure valve). Feel yourself as the flow, effortless and endless. Free. Spend some time here.
Bring your attention to what's true. Notice ALL of it, the big and small. Yourself and others, everything. Feel the immensity of the vast creative playground. Feel the connections, the collaborations. Notice you are not alone. You are everything, everyone, everywhere.
Free yourself to feel the movement of your being. Welcome it. Move with it.
If you're having trouble shifting into your vast imaginal intelligence then grab your journal and do a brain dump. Empty your head of the hammering thoughts. Let them rest safely on the page knowing there are droplets of light nestled within them.
Go back and experience the journey again. Check in. Feel the lightness. Notice what you know. “What is right?” It may have already shifted or a greater truth has arisen.
The next time you feel an I am Right! coming on, feel the we, instead of the me. Connect to your vastness, notice what is true.
Anything is possible.
