Most of us raised in the West were taught to look for answers externally in books, institutions, and authority figures. Introspection and self-inquiry are not top values for many. The instilled message in my own household was, “Don't dwell on yourself.”Unfortunately, this kind of thinking can lead to an unnatural disconnection from your inner guidance and discernment. If you can't connect to yourself, it's harder to connect to anyone or anything else at the level where communication and understanding live.The biggest consequence of this level of living is that you get cut off from your own power source: your unique gifts and talents, your brilliance!It's often quite difficult to get the brilliance of who you really are on your own. Most environments, from work to home, are driven by criticism and external measures of success. It's undeniable that one of the quickest ways to get reliable feedback is through the eyes of another. It is in this sacred, loving container of connection and community that your true self is reflected and arises most easily.This is the playground that fuels your being, your projects, your business. It is the place where you are unleashed and ready for prime time. This isn't so much what you do but the way in which you do it. Are you ready to play in your brilliance?

Practice

Today's invitation might be an uncomfortable exercise for some. I know it was for me the first time I did it. There are plenty of assessments that are helpful in clarifying where your strengths and talents lie. That's not what this is.Contact a few close friends and family – people who really know and care about you – and ask them to share 3 things they love about you. Reach out to 3-5 people. Email is a great way to get feedback.And when you forget – because you will – you now have the reflection of those who know and love you to bring you back to what's true. If you're in business, it will also create immense clarity in how you should deliver and position your offers.
