It's Thanksgiving Day for those of us in the US, and I'm spending it with my family and friends. Holidays are always a raucous and charged event at the Rubio's. Cubans are expressive and joyfully explosive by nature, making for interesting photo ops and tantalizing anecdotes for the tell-all book. Amid the cacophony of family, food, and fun, I take a moment to anchor my being into the stream of conscious connection and imbue it with all that I am now.
Celebrations and family gatherings can be a time when you slip into a pre-programmed way of being. Old habits and beliefs can pull you into their anchored grooves and you may find yourself wondering why you ‘do what you do.' Take a moment this holiday to tune into your family traditions and notice if you engage them by choice or default. I guarantee that if your access comes from the inner wellspring that is you it will charge your day, open your heart and flow into everything and everyone.
Make a CHOICE to come from this dynamic living core of being. Here are some tips:
1. Greet family and friends with a direct core to core connection. You might do this by focusing on the energy of your high heart and their high heart and feeling the streaming, warm energy that flows between you. Gaze directly into their eyes and let your energy speak the connection. Imbue your ‘Hello' with the underlying intent of your love.
2. Honor the energetic exchange between your food and your body. Before you lift anything to your lips check in with the energy of your body and the energy of the food before you. Allow the choosing of one another, it will be an attractive pulling versus a compulsion. As you taste your food, chew thoroughly and allow the pleasurable sensation of the orchestra of flavors to play across your palate. Immerse yourself fully in the sheer ecstasy of taste, savor and nourishment. Breathe often and fully and pause frequently, allowing the energetic play of palate, pleasure, and nourishment to weave its lively dance. Appreciate the gift that is your body and your ability to transform food to sustenance. It is GREAT to be alive!
3. Listen for the unspoken, yet ever present, river of love running throughout your celebration. See, as if for the first time, the loving preparation of food, the beautifully set table, the eager guests, the family presence. Breathe deeply and ‘BE with IT' in a new way. Listen for the fleeting wisps of gleaming gratitude. Breathe deeply and fully and allow yourself to sense even more, deeper . . . Feel the dynamic pulsing rhythm of your vibrant connection to those with whom you share the day. Allow yourself to stream outwardly and connect with all other beings celebrating life in this moment. Say YES! to ALL that is YOU and YOURS and OURS. Notice your individual pulse united to the plethora of pulses superconnected in celebration. Feel the essence, the being and the knowing that you are a precious piece of this magnificent creation. Allow the energy of your being to flow easily and effortlessly, feel the ensuing ripples of delight that are created as a consequence of your choice. And know, my friends, that all is well.
Have a fabulous Thanksgiving Day!
